A Darwin business owner is reaping the benefits of endorphins after encouraging her staff to exercise, even supporting it during business hours.
Rachel Tate, who owns Tate Auto Electrics and Aircon with her husband Phil, said when they made a commitment to improve their own health in 2025, they never imagined they’d be working out with seven of their crew right there beside them.
Each Thursday morning at 8.30am, the Tate crew attend an F45 class together, all in branded shirts and often taking up an entire pod on their own.
“Phil and I started at F45 for our own health goals but thought we would extend that to our staff and try to set a good example,” she said.
“We figured if we can take time away from the workshop, so could they, and the offer was taken up by seven of our 12 staff.
“It’s so great to all be there together, and the morale of the office has really lifted because of it.”

Darwin business Tate Auto Electrics and Aircon encourage their staff to exercise during business hours.
She said the biggest shock of encouraging the health movement in their office has been the camaraderie.
“We have really noticed a healthy and fun competition between the guys since starting, it’s been so good to see and it definitely translates to the job site,” she said.
“The encouragement they give each other is very endearing, and it’s definitely a talking point for them throughout the day, which as a boss, all you hope for is that your staff enjoy coming to work.”
Rachel said she was initially surprised by the take up.
“I am really so proud of the boys for sticking to it, but they also help hold me accountable when I think of skipping class – we really are in it together,” she said.
“We love doing the class together, and I think it has strengthened all our bonds and I really believe this is something that could benefit all types of businesses more than just your physical health.”
